About Dsiboys:

Who are they?

Lucus and Jack from Dsiboys

Dsiboys is a duo consisting of two guys named Jack Sadlier and Lucas Robertson. They are an electronic indie pop duo from Chicago and London.

Fun fact: Jack used to go by Lucas Lex, a solo project that they no longer work on.

They first became active during the middle of 2020, primarily uploading their work onto SoundCloud. The earliest songs they released are singles titled: "glassCD", "patterns", and "mash!". These songs leaned more towards the hyperpop genre, which is something that the band loses in the future. They have since been removed from their SoundCloud, but the audios can still be found on YouTube uploaded by other users.

How did they become popular?

They first gained traction when they uploaded a music video of their Teenage Dirtbag cover onto YouTube. The music video was not 'anything special', as they recorded it themselves using their laptop cameras accompanied with a green screen. At the time, they were 15-16 years old, and the quality of the video definitely shows that. Nonetheless, their cover blew up, and it now has over 9 million plays on Spotify, nearing 10 million. The video itself also received lots of positivity.

What did they produce next?

They would then release more covers such as "Kiss Me Thru The Phone" and "Still Into You" onto SoundCloud. These covers would rack up plays in the 10-thousands, but they weren't nearly as popular as their Teenage Dirtbag cover. Additionally, Dsiboys did not release music videos for these covers and these songs can not be found on their official spotify.

Approximately a year later, Dsiboys would release their first song that they had written themselves, titled "can't wait", onto SoundCloud. Dsiboys produced another low-budget music video for the song and uploaded it onto YouTube on October 3rd, 2021. *Spoiler: this song ends up on their first album!*

In the next month, they would once again upload another cover to SoundCloud, titled "Stacy's Mom." They also produced a music video for it which was posted onto YouTube on November 23rd, 2021.

The duo would be inactive online for a few months until they uploaded a video on January 1st, 2023, announcing that they would be releasing a self-titled debut album. The album was set to be released on January 6th. They added a link in the description to presave the album at distrokid.com.

Prior to this announcement, they would post onto their instagram announcing the single "1234", which was uploaded onto YouTube on December 22nd, 2022. This song was a teaser to their self-titled, as it ended up being the second track on the album. Quote, "'1234' by dsiboys out this friday, the first single from the upcoming album 'dsiboys' -- music video on our youtube at 5PM EST/11PM GMT 22.12.22" (taken from their instagram page @2dsiboys). Personally, this is one of my favorite music videos of theirs.
